A pretty big legal deal just happened in the world of AI.  Anthropic, AWS's horse in the game, on April 7 released a model named Mythos to a vetted, insiders preview circle.  They all said it was incredibly powerful, and very capable of various cyber crimes.  On June 9 they released a heavily safety railed version to the general public creating modern AAA gaming demos, simultaneously impressing people, but infuriating them by refusing all manner of topics with bad keywords. Yesterday the International Trade Administration under the Commerce Department under the Executive ordered them to shut down due to export controls.  The order bared foreign nationals from in, or out of the US. The emergency lever applies to everyone. It appears Zuckerberg has dropped out of the race.  Maybe they paid him.  Maybe they scared him.  Apple isn't touching it.  Google is closed source.  OpenAI is closed source.  Anthropic is closed source. The only horse still in the race that is open source is Chinese. The next step will be to contrabanize it. I mean, you don't really trust Doctor Qwen with your life, no matter how smart he is, right?  You can only really trust Doctor Sam.
